A Recruiter's Daily Priorities: How to Decide What Needs Attention Today
A recruiter's day is easiest to plan by checking four things in order: interviews coming up, follow-ups that are overdue, candidates who have been stuck in a stage too long, and strong candidates you haven't yet moved forward. Everything else can wait.
1. Interviews in the next few days
Confirm each is scheduled, the interviewer has the resume, and the candidate has details. Missed prep is the most visible failure.
2. Overdue follow-ups
A candidate waiting for an answer is deciding what your company is like. Reply, even if the answer is "no news yet".
3. Stale candidates
Candidates untouched for a set number of days in a stage, such as a week in Interview, need a decision or a nudge. Stale cards also corrupt your analytics.
4. Strong candidates not yet advanced
Candidates with high match scores sitting in New or Shortlisted are the easiest wins. Move them before a competitor does.
Let software do the scanning
Checking this by hand across several jobs is tedious, which is why it gets skipped. Rezumz's Recruiter Copilot answers "what needs my attention today?" by surfacing these four categories, and the same summary is available in Slack. It points at candidates; you decide what to do.
Frequently asked questions
How often should I review my pipeline?
Briefly every day for urgent items, and a fuller review weekly to move or close stale cards.
What counts as stale?
It depends on the stage and role. A common approach is to set a number of days per stage and review anything beyond it.
Does the copilot act for me?
No. It lists what needs attention. Any change to a candidate is made by you.
