Rezumz vs a spreadsheet and email
Plenty of good hires are run from a spreadsheet and an inbox, and for a single role with a handful of applicants that is a perfectly reasonable choice. This page is about where it starts to cost you, and where it doesn't.
What we say about a spreadsheet and email comes from common practice on 6 October 2026, and is worded as what they say. It may be out of date or incomplete, so check their site before you decide.
| a spreadsheet and email | Rezumz | |
|---|---|---|
| Collecting CVs | Attachments in email, saved into folders by hand. | An apply link, uploads, CSV import, or a private email address that reads forwarded CVs. |
| Deciding who to talk to | You read each CV and judge. It is flexible and entirely yours. | Each CV is scored against the job's requirements, with the supporting lines quoted. You still decide. |
| Interviewer feedback | Replies in email or a shared document, in whatever shape people choose. | A scorecard you set once, private links per interviewer, locked and versioned feedback. |
| Booking interviews | An email thread each time. | The candidate picks from times you offer, with calendar invites and reminders. |
| A record of decisions | Whatever you remembered to write down. | Decisions, reasons, approvals and emails are logged against the candidate. |
| Offers | A document you write, and a PDF you chase. | Templates, an approval step, and online signing with a printable record. |
| Cost and setup | Free, and nothing to learn. | A free trial and then a paid plan, plus an hour to learn the flow. |
| Privacy and deletion | Candidate data spread across inboxes and drives, deleted when you remember. | In one place, with per-job automatic deletion and export. |
Choose a spreadsheet and email if
- You are filling one role and expect a few applicants.
- You already have a system that works and a small, stable team.
- You hire a few times a year and do not need a record beyond your own notes.
Choose Rezumz if
- You screen enough CVs that reading each one carefully costs real time.
- More than one person gives feedback and you want it comparable.
- You need to show later why a decision was made, or you are asked for approvals.
Questions
Can I move my spreadsheet into Rezumz?
Yes. Import candidates from a CSV with names, emails and stages. A CSV has no CVs, so imported candidates have no match score until you add theirs.
Do I have to give up my spreadsheet?
No. You can keep it for what it is good at. Webhooks and exports let you copy events and records out.
Try it on one real hire
The quickest way to compare is to run one role through each. It takes about an hour.
